Ugh.. I tried meetup. Apparently the only people in my area are creepy old men. No thanks
In that case it doesn't surprise me at all that the more interesting groups I found were more based in Seacoast NH as opposed to Boston! But then I wasn't looking at singles groups, just general interests groups like Photography, German Language and Outdoor activities.
Oooohhh the German language one sounds fun! Although, I haven't spoken German in years...I might be a little lost :frown:
Exact same reason why I joined it. It was my minor in school and last year in Germany I was pretty much lost except for numbers and directions. Was going to go to my first event on Sunday but fell behind and needed to pack. The one I found meets in Portsmouth NH most of the time it looks like.
When I lived in Beacon Hill I signed up for refresher classes at the Goethe Institute. Got my application done and that was about as far as it went though.
No way! I think I might have to check that one out -- I've seriously been looking for a language tutor to help with all my languages, but it definitely can't hurt to start with German. I took that one the longest -- got up to conversational Deutsch, but that was six years ago. Haven't used it much since then
Yeah, I made it to "A history of Berlin through media" or something like that. It was a double coded class. I took the higher one where everything had to be in German. Was just one other girl in the higher class. The other 4 took the lower one which everything was in English. That was about where I topped out, Babelfish translate saved me in that class.0 -

I freaking love Babelfish!!!!!! I've never been brave enough to take a class entirely in another language -- I think this might have to be a new goal! It would be fascinating.0 -

Babelfish has saved me so many times! I only took the higher one because it finished the minor and my GenEd requirement as a culture survey. Otherwise I was completely over my head and knew it going in!0 -

Haha I learned about Babelfish from my German teacher, who then warned us stringently against using it for class assignments, ironically enough! Oh well....I just joined the German group!!!!! Soooooo excited!!!!!!!0
