Finally hit the TRAIL

So up until yesterday I've been riding my mountain bike (which is my only bike) on paved bike trails around my house for exercise. But yesterday I decided to finally give it a go in the woods- and wow- I was seriously impressed with (a) the bike and (b) the workout. Amazing using a bike for exactly what it was designed to do because it tore through the ups and downs and mud and debris on some fairly rugged trails like I didn't even know was possible. And I was tapped out after a little over an hour- what a great whole-body workout navigating the bike twisting around through the trees and edges. I think I'm hooked- now I just need to get a road bike for the road.

Welcome to the wonderful world of mountain biking! I am glad you had a good time. MTB is definitely a different workout from road riding, that is for sure. I love it!

Fantastic! welcome back to playing in the woods like you did when you where a kid :D

MTB hits the core hard. Judging by the mud in the pic , I bet that was a tough.
I easily burn an extra 100 cals an hour over road cycling on singletrack.

But unlike the gym, the hours rattle by so quickly. You can hit big burn numbers and have so much fun.
