Hey guys, I just wanted to see if any of you had an apt around 10wks and DID NOT get a heartbeat on the doppler. I just went in to get checked for a heartbeat on baby and we couldn't find one. I am 9wks6days. I need some reassurance.

Yes. With my first one this happened. He is 7 now. At my last dr appt a couple of weeks ago, the nurse had a hell of a time finding a heartbeat. I was 14 weeks.

I didn't have mine attempted that early, but my office won't even try until 14 weeks, so don't worry too much :) It is just too early.

Hey ladies! Ultrasound was perfect. Baby measured exactly the way I had calculated it would! I guess I know my body pretty well and knew when I got pregnant! LOL. Had a strong heartbeat of 170bpm :))

Glad all was ok. Here in UK they dont try and listen for heartbeat until at least 16 weeks (think its to avoid stress etc if cant be found).

Glad it turned out well, I'm sure they will be able to hear the heartbeat on a doppler for your next appointment!

    Yay!
Glad all is well with your LO. I get early u/s due to miscarriages and they can use that to see the heartbeat, but my OB never tries to find it before 12w with the doppler. He said it can be hard and he doesn't like to worry patients.

So happy LO is looking good! Happy & healthy 9 months to you!

That is wonderful news! I can completely relate with the stress of not knowing.

When I first found out I was pregnant I scheduled an appointment at about 7 weeks. The doctor was the recommendation of a friend but when I got there, he really didn't ask any questions or talk much at all. He did the ulstrasound (which seems really early compared to when I was pregnant with my now 21 yo & 13 yo) but he said he couldn't see a baby yet just the baby's house which measured 5w3d and to come back in two weeks. In the meantime I received referrals in the mail to 4 different clinics (I'm sure one was genetic testing but no clue about the others). When I went back, I asked the nurse about it, she said the dr would talk to me. When he came in, again, all he said was "how is everything?" I said fine, just a little sleepy. Then he did another ultrasound. Said he saw the fetal pole and yolk sac this time, but the "home" measured 6w1d now (by my calculations should have been 8w) and couldn't see a heartbeat. He said come back in a week, as he was walking out I asked if I should be worred and he said "in my opinion, 50/50". My heart sank. His nurse gave me paperwork for more blood tests which I'm sure were for HCG levels, but no explanation was given to me. Needless to say I've switched doctors and my first appointment with my new doctor is tomorrow. I've been kind of freaking out this week and am so anxious to find out if everything is ok or not. This pregnancy was definitely not planned but I feel attached & love this baby already.

I'm happy all turned out well with yours, it must have been such a relief!!

Well my appointment didn't go so well. The new doctor is wonderful and explained everything very compassionately but it turns out my baby stopped developing at about 7 weeks. My hcg levels and a 3rd ultrasound confirmed that even though my body doesn't realize it yet, I'll be miscarrying soon. I've scheduled a d&c in a few weeks. I spent all day yesterday crying & grievinng. Now I just feel numb. It's terrible to still feel pregnant even though there won't be a baby but I wanted to wait a bit to give nature a chance to run its course. Thank you for the prayers ladies. I wish you all the best with your little ones.

I'm so sorry to hear this! This is my worst fears that the baby will stop growing and I won't even know about it. Its always in my mind. Thats actually why I had an ultrasound scheduled in the first place because I was thinking I was going through a "missed miscarriage" . I am still on edge until I hear the heartbeat again! My thoughts and prayers are with you! Take care of yourself.

I friend of mine, 28wks along, said she couldn't hear the baby's heartbeat until around 18 weeks because he just didn't want to cooperate. Everything else indicated the pregnacy was fine, but that also didn't stop her from worrying. Just wanted you to know your not alone in that boat. I got for my first appt and hopeful hearing of the heartbeat at 11 weeks. I'm hoping to hear it, but also prepping myself in case I don't as I recognize it could be too early.
