Has anyone here ever been to E3? I would like to go. I have a friend who has access to it every year since he works for the R&D department at Sony. But he says there is no way to transfer it. Anyone know of any other ways, besides working for the industry, to get in? Thanks!

I believe the last day is an "open day", or at least it used to be.
Another option is to go to one of the PAX conventions. It's a much more social environment and a lot of the developers and publishers still have booths there showing off upcoming games, plus you get to check out a lot of the indie development scene, which is great, stuff that doesn't generally play at an E3.0 -
I've been to PAX East in Boston. What an experience. But I want to witness the pagentry of booth babes and super duper crazy press conferences. I mean, you still see a lot of hot and wierd Cos-players, but something about E3 that I just want to expereince. I think it's every gamers fantasy.0

I went to E3 back in 2002-03 when I still worked for Gamestop, our district manager gave me an approval to use the company when I went to request the badge and got the week off.
I really really wish I could go again, the feeling of getting a sneak peak of whats to come can give you that big excitement vibe, I think they were showing early game play of Doom 3 at the time, and some of the developers booths had free swag bags that they just gave away, I think Konami had the best one.
as for getting in and not being part of a media or a part of the industry, I would not know, but the best of luck to you if you decide to go for next year0 -
PAX is a better show. Much more customer friendly.
E3 this year was kinda junk. Its all Media now. 1/4 the media is actual gamers and care the rest are just a bunch of suits.0 -
I'm right there with you! I would love to go to E3 or even Nerdtacular.0
