Timing chip question

Actually I have 2 questions (one is probably a lot dumber than the other)

I picked up my packet yesterday and they are using a disposable timing chip worn around the ankle.

Here is the dumb question, it's a chip that just slides onto the disposable ankle bracelet (looks like a hospital bracelet). I wear a Road ID when I run/bike for medical allergy issues, would it be ok to strap that timing chip onto the strap for my Road ID instead of wearing both.

Also, how do they get timing for a pool swim, since it's a staggered start everyone will have a different clock time. I don't really need to know this for a specific reason, more of a curious question.

You're Road ID anklet might actually hold better than those orange bands from what I've seen. I don't see where it would be an issue.

On the second question there will be timing mats you walk over just before you jump into the pool and right as you come out to capture your swim time.

The Road ID idea will work assuming it's an anklet like Scott said. Otherwise, you're out of luck sense the sensor needs to be close to the ground in order to be detected by the timing wires.

It is a chip that slides on an orange band that goes around your ankle. That's why I figured my Road ID band might work.

It should. I actually saw a lot of those orange bands come apart at Kemah and people were SOL on the chip.
