Anyone a current or former barista?

I was a barista at Starbucks for over a year, pretty stressful and underpaid job but I loved it at the same time. Just curious if anyone else here has any barista experience?!

I was a barista and shift manager at Caribou for 5 years and for a local private coffee shop for a year. If it paid better I would do it forever - SO much fun! It something I would probably go back to as a side job someday (when I'm done working 2 other jobs and going to school LOL) or after I retire.... hell maybe I'd even open a place - we'll see!

I'm a little jealous that you worked at Caribou Coffee -___-

I use to live in Minnesota and Caribou Coffee was everywhere, then I moved to Texas and they're nonexistent. Caribou is so much better than Starbucks! I would be a barista again but only if I got payed more and it was at a better location than where I was. I worked at a Starbucks that was inside a major hotel (Great Wolf Lodge) and we constantly were understaffed and bombarded by 6 buses worth of 14 year old cheerleaders, those weren't very fun times :grumble:

Yeah I grew up in Minnesota. Caribou was a blast. Then I moved to FL and my sister sent me reindeer blend every year for christmas. Whenever I go home I go crazy on caribou, like 2 or 3 times a day. You would think I would have gotten sick of it after 5 years but I think I worked there just for the free coffee. The in dependent shop I worked at was SO fun. They had a trailer they would take to catering events and we worked the farmer's market every weekend and in the summer we'd park on the beach and sell smoothies, it was awesome. The owner also roasted his own beans in shop. mmmmmm

I worked at Caffe Nero for a few months. Am rather uncoordinated and clumsy so I was rather rubbish at it. Still had fun though and lots of free coffee!! :D

  • I have worked at dunkin donuts, a Starbucks in a local bakery in NY, and make my own stuff at home. Yep, I am such an addict...
