Cyclocross bikes

Hey all! Just sold my car and I'm looking for a solid commuter bike that I can use as my all around bike. Don't like riding my road bike to work because I have to carry a bag and then put on a wet shirt for the ride home. My perfect bike for this would be a cyclocross bike, preferably WSD, with disc brakes, braze-ons for (at least rear) racks, I would need a 49cm bike. Oh, and I don't want to spend a fortune. Closest I found was a Novara Element on Craigslist, but REI doesn't carry them anymore. HELP! What are your suggestions? Thanks!

What is your price range?
The first to come to my mind is a Surly Crosscheck or a Raleigh Roper. The Raleigh looks really nice and comes with disc brakes: http://www.raleighusa.com/bikes/steel-road/roper-12/ Then maybe the Jamis Bosanova or the Raleigh Clubman but those are both more sportif bikes. All of these are in $1,000 price range.
Of course the Ultimate On/Off Road Touring/Commuter bike is the Salsa Vaya but the complete bike comes in at $1,500 or higher. I am going with the Raleigh Sojourn because it is a better value at $1,200 than the Vaya.
If you trying to go really inexpensive then Nashbar might have this for you: http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product_10053_10052_535089_-1___2023390 -

This is the bike I just bought. My first non-Wal Mart bike. After buying shoes, paying for shipping and handling and having the LBS build the bike for me, it ran me about $700. Maybe that's inexpensive for some, but to me it was a big purchase. I've only ridden it 3 times so far, but am happy with it. I am a beginner biker.0 -
This is a late but I would also suggest the Surly Crosscheck (i own one), while it does not have disc brakes..:( ..canti brakes work well, plenty of room for 32-38 tires with fenders, 2 mounts for cages and you can put on a rear rack. Mine changes seasonally, commuter with racks/fenders/lights and them stripped down for CX in September/October. Its a heavy bike but I like it.
Also look at the Raleigh Furley, Steel, Discs, mounts for fenders/racks/cages....its single speed but with a rear derailleur mount you could run it 1x8 or 1x9 with a different rear wheel and have a nice bike...and its orange too.0
