Role-Playing for relief...

You don't have to be an artistic genius to role play... You don't have to have a disorder either... You don't even have to be an actor... Much like Peter Pan's subordinates, you just have to believe... When you are by yourself, who the hell cares what you do, think, or say out loud? We all need an escape from reality, and drugs just isn't a healthy way of doing so, nor is alcohol "Guilty." Sometimes, an alternate persona in private can relieve you. Why? Because your persona can be just a part of you that you have invented that doesn't have anxiety symptoms. If you have the imagination, you won't have the symptoms. How do I know? My alternate personality, which IS ALASTOR, has never had a panic attack. He has excelled in everything I have needed him to. Is it border line personality disorder? Dunno, but this role playing has seemed to be healthy to me. As a boy and a teen, Alastor handled a lot of life for me, and if I have anxiety it is when I am NOT Alastor. Do you get my point? If you can pretend that another you exists, you can also choose whether or not they have any disorders. It is just as role playing, just don't become them entirely, unless you think that persona will carry on life long happiness for you in private. Does anyone else have a persona to fight off their ill side?

I do. Unfortunately, my "alternate self" isn't always a good person... She's the wall I put up when I feel like I need out of a situation. I think I kind of made her up because of a few bad relationships. She's really not a nice person, snobby and a b*tch, but I'm learning to work with her. I know she just has my best interest in mind. :)

I know all about bad relationships. I have had nothing but before marrying my wife, and even we have our differences. Mostly because I am a loveable person, and she isn't quite as affectionate as I am I suppose. Maybe I don't strike the right chord with her romantically to place her in that affectionate mode, I don' t know, but I always try to please a lady, and usually succeed. May just be her nature. Anyways, I have been through heart break city more times than I care to, so it's okay if you have an alternate you to handle the hurt. Mine has come through for me on many occasions.

This is why I like to read, gives a good escape from reality. Don't know if wanting to escape reality is healthy or not but it calms me.
