Last week of the month... how did you do?

It's fine and dandy to say you are going to make changes, to understand tidbits of information here and there, but what if you have no plan? How you will be able to really "get it done?" It's important to have a plan of attack and ladies and gentleman, THIS IS THE TIME TO MAKE IT FOR YOUR MONTH OF JULY! And I know you can do it!
As this next week comes up, we have a lot to think about. If you have not measured yourself or weighed yourself, the time is now. Well not this week, but i mean the time is now to buy the tape and get ready to measure yourself either on the 30th or the 1st. Whatever you choose...
As of the 30th I will be starting a general thread for the month of July. If you want to share great, if not I totally understand. But, if you are serious, and dedicated you HAVE to start tracking your progress, measurements, and getting on it!
I AM ALSO THINKING OF STARTING A MINI TYPE OF CHALLENGE WITHIN OUR GROUP FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO JOIN UP AND ADD ALL OUR INCHES LOST OR CALORIES LOST AND PUT THEM IN ONE BIG PILE FOR MOTIVATION! I MEAN, HOW GREAT WOULD IT BE TO SAY THAT WITHIN TWO WEEKS, YOUR TEAM LOST 20+ POUNDS?!??!?! YOU GUYS LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THAT. I'M NOT USUALLY INTO IT, BUT IF PEOPLE WANT TO DO THIS, EVEN ONLY 4 OF US, I'M GAME!
Thinking of the last two weeks, I am very happy with the 5 pound weight loss I have had. That is about 2.5 pounds per week, a good healthy weight loss. I am of course, looking to lose another 2 pounds by the end of this week, putting me at a total of 7 pounds lost, only 1 pound shy of my goal! But hey, even if I don't get there, 5 pounds is 5 pounds! Slow and steady, remember?
I hope you are all writing down your workouts for at least 7-10 days out. I have really been enjoying my last two weeks or rotations, so I have decided to copy as many days as I can, of course switching up my schedule when I have meetings... Which for example, I have one tomorrow. So instead of doing the exact same routine as Monday, i will have to make it fit with my schedule. I will still make sure I do all the workouts from last Monday throughout the rest of the week!
So what is your schedule? What does your fridge look like? Do you plan out your meals? If not, why not? And if so, are they ready to go? I'm telling you, slowly but surely, every month, we will be more organized and more fit, less tired and less confused about how to go about this! CHANGE IS GOOD! And all of us, my friends, are rockin' the change!
:drinker: Let's have a great great week! K

Thanks for the reminder. I need to get myself measured because I'm pretty sure I've lost inches but didn't record any numbers other than weight when I started. Now my waistline on my clothes are a bit looser which is good but I have no idea what my starting point was.
I'm in for the July pile up challenge. Bring it on!!! Great job on the losses this week Kim! My losses are not that stellar, but losses nonetheless. This is the long haul. I need to know I'm working within my limits. Trying not to go overboard on anything. Runs are on a calendar and highlighted as they are completed. Will include weights again next week as lifting tended to make my runs too difficult at the beginning of the running schedule in spring.
There is some meal planning but we are in a hundred activities (like everyone) and so meals have been on the go a bit. Doing my best to make good choices. Lots of berries and protein. Water good. Cant complain!0 -
Is it REALLY the last week of the month? That's nuts!!
Thank you for the prompt. I will measure. I want a baseline starting point to go from. Especially since the scale is only a small piece of the picture at this point.
My fridge is ... mostly empty and in need of a trip to the farmers' market! But I boiled a bunch of eggs today (for snacks and salads) and cut up a cantaloupe for fresh fruit throughout the week. Both of these baby steps are new. It wasn't hard and could easily become a "Sunday thing".
Thanks for getting us thinking ahead! :flowerforyou:0 -
Man! The empty fridge and "on the go" eating must be in the air because that is where my husband and I are at! LOL I mean, we always have fresh veggies and stuff in the house, but our pantry (dried whole grains) is in some dire need of filling! LOL Sooooo, yes we shall get there!
RIOUXT- Berries sound so good! They are perfect for Summer and just uber healthy! And way to go on the smart choices! ME TOO! It's not always easy, but we'll get there!
I am excited for July! I just feel like now that we have been online and we are logging and meeting people, and INSPIRED to get HOT BY THE HOLIDAYS I think we'll see some pretty fantabulous results!0 -

Today is a list making day. after 30+ hours in a vehicle, in 5 days 12 of which was done yesterday my kids need a break from the car so grocery shopping is gonna have to be tomorrow. Time to start planning out my week.0

I have not done measurements yet this week, I will do them by Saturday (last day of the month). We have been so busy my niece got married this weekend, we had relatives come in town from other states (some of which stayed at our house), additionally we had our friends of 20 years move back to the area and we have been hanging out with them a lot. Very busy and hectic and lots of going out to eat. I went to the gym yesterday and did 10 minutes on the treadmill, I am recovering from a torn ligament so that was hard. I bought and used a heart rate monitor for the first time yesterday. I also did upper body weight machines, an aqua aerobics class and lots of swimming/playing in the water with the kiddos. I had an awesome burn of 1616! Off to a good start for the week, now I just have to keep it up0

I haven't measured yet, but I will. I wanted to get progress pictures. I'm wearing a pair of jeans that are that stretchy type (not skinny jeans...these are like 6 years old). I don't wear jeans as I don't like how they fit.
Ok...my workout schedule is as follows (they will mostly be water aerobic type classes at the Y; due to knee pain, I can't do a lot of land based exercises)
1.Wednesday 6/27- --two water fitness classes; one of the classes is entirely in the deep end
2.Thursday 6/28--water fitness class; possibly two--typcially I'll go on Thursday nights, but we have night plans
ph4. Saturday-6/30 1.5 hour water class
5. Sunday-7/1 hour fitness class;
6. Monday-7/2-schedule isn't up; but morning water class; evening water class
7. Tuesday- 7/3-water fitness class or gentle yoga
8. Wednesday-7/4--not sure if the Y is open...free day!
9. Thursday 7/5-morning fitness class; evening fitness class
10. Friday 7/6 water class; possibly functional fitness
*I also need to do at least 3 of the 10 days on the bike for 15 min. It will take a lot of will power to get it done, but I'll try.
I wrote it, now I have to stick to it!
It's July 9-Aug 2 that I'm concerned with. I'll be teaching summer school and will not have the morning to workout, only evenings. That's why one of my goals is to commit to exercise.0 -
HELLLLLO! Well, I did my measurements this morning and feeling good about it. I won't have time on Saturday morning because it's one of those workout and go days. So, I figure the 26th of the month is as good as any! I will, however, usually try to do it at the end of the month! That seems to be my norm!
:smooched: ABIGAIL_ I'm telling you, planning out your food, mapping out your road to success will make it much easier to follow! Good for you! And San Fran is gorgeous, even though I ahve never been there! LOL I ahve friends that live there though! Glad you had a good time!
:smooched: I am losing- hey lady! Aqua workouts are fun! Todd and i have done them numerous times at resorts we stay at! way more work that one thinks! LOL What kind of heart rate monitor did you get? Also, torn ligs, yeah I have those too. Are you repairing them naturally? Taking supplemets? If not, I highly recommend some!
:smooched: DNunny- good schedule and I applaud your for posting them! I have mine written out in a calendar and stick to it. For instance, I gotup and didn't want to workout (yes, i have those days too), or even think about what to do. Then, I went to my calendar and I was like, oh, I can do that! LOL So, it's good! Put it out there! Way to go!
SO HAPPY GUYS! WE ARE DOING THIS! I KNOW I'M A STICKLER FOR PLANS OF ACTION, SUCCESS, BUT I THINK IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE. AFTER ALL, IF WE MAP OUT OUR ROAD, WE WILL BE ABLE TO FOLLOW IT INTO THE LIGHT/GOALS! IF WE DON'T MAP OUT OUR SUCCESS, WE HAVE NO IDEA WHERE WE ARE GOING AND TYPICALLY END UP IN CIRCLES!
FOR EVERYONE ELSE READING THE BOARDS, BUT NOT POSTING, I'M ONLY ASKING FOR 7-10 DAYS! PLAN THEM OUT! THAT WAY THERE ARE NO QUESTIONS WITH WHAT TO DO! YOU CAN DO IT!0 -
Kim yes I am repairing the lig naturally. I take vitamins, ibuprofen, ice it up and elevate it. What supplements do you know about, do tell Today I did calisthenics, aqua aerobics, weight machines and a small amount of leg work, don't want to push my leg too much.
I don't plan much, my whole family is kind of a spur of the moment kind of family. The extent of my planning is I plan to workout 5 days or more and keep rehabbing my leg. Planning and scheduling stresses me out, I know that prob sounds funny, but if I schedule and plan to say for instance go to an aerobics class and something happens where I can't make it or make it late I get so pissed off at myself and stress out myself and everyone around me. Normally I am just easy going play it by ear and it works for me and my family I can make and do commitments but not actual times and days.0 -
I totally hear you! However, I do challenge you to MAKE time for yourself! Chalene Johnson says it all the time, that you have to make time for yourself. I challenge you to set just 3 days a week and stick to it! They don't have to be long workouts, even just a 15-20 minute something. Honestly, to be the hard knock and get you moving, if your "working out whenever" was working, you wouldn't be here right? I know you can do it! This is mental game too! Also, in regards to getting mad at yourself, well that is just silly.... I used to do that, but what a waste of time and energy. Be proud of yourself every day! Love yourself every day! Go back and think of the 5 things that you love about yourself and do it every morning! You can do it! Try to stay clear of the ibuprofen too much, it won't help rebuild tissue... And yes, ice it when it swells up, but then switch to heat....0

My update
I will be weighing/measuring on the 30th! right after i get some of this bloat down!As of the 30th I will be starting a general thread for the month of July. If you want to share great, if not I totally understand. But, if you are serious, and dedicated you HAVE to start tracking your progress, measurements, and getting on it!
I really want to keep myself accountable so i'm sure I will want to participateI AM ALSO THINKING OF STARTING A MINI TYPE OF CHALLENGE WITHIN OUR GROUP FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO JOIN UP AND ADD ALL OUR INCHES LOST OR CALORIES LOST AND PUT THEM IN ONE BIG PILE FOR MOTIVATION! I MEAN, HOW GREAT WOULD IT BE TO SAY THAT WITHIN TWO WEEKS, YOUR TEAM LOST 20+ POUNDS?!??!?! YOU GUYS LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THAT. I'm not trying to lose a ton of weight so I wouldnt' want to hold anyone back but it would be fun to do.
Thinking of the last week, i started making some changes to my diet and they have resulted in my eating fewer calories and i actually have not felt hungry or deprived. my next goal is to keep this going and i know i want all these big weight loss numbers but i've found that for me i need to eat a little closer to my TDEE so that i don't feel hungry so much.
I have been having not too much problem with working out since i started MFP under a diferent user name about 10 months ago. I have always been motivated in that regard. my biggest problem is food!
My schedule is work 7-4, exercise around 7:30 when my daughter goes to bed. it's been working pretty well. Like i said, the only bad thing is food. i have been letting myself go overboard for dinner and i have tried to rein that in the last 5 days. i hope to keep up this trend throughout july.0 -
So this month has been sooo up and down for me. I started off strong, but life got in the way. Mu husband got hurt at work and can not work, he is the supporter of our family, i work part- time and have been trying to find full time work for a year with no luck so now we are in a rough situation. With all this going on it is hard to try to eat right and exercise and I got very discouraged and really didn't care nor had any motivation to work out. I stayed under my calorie goal so I didn't throw in the towel completely I just was feeling way down and as a result of that i stayed away from the scale.
so finally I weighed in and saw I lost about 4 pounds in 4 weeks and that made me gain some motivation back. I cant change all those other things, but I can control my weight and my body. Today I am starting 30 day shred so I hope for July to be a slamming month!!! I would love to be in any challenges or group stuff to stay motivated!!0 -
Well this month I have been more on target with what I need to do. I have lost 7 lbs this month. Going on vacation actually helped because I was much more active then normal. I just got in the insanity dvds that I ordered at the beging of the month so tonight will be the night!!!. I will measure today since I am starting a new workout today I can't wait to see what happens. I think there was only a day or two that went over my calories during this whole past month. I am so feelin the grove!!! I have 3 months until my brothers wedding and I plan on making them count.0
