My daughter is active. She's a black belt in tae kwon do, testing for 2nd degree in Oct.
Anyway, when I started researching the lifting stuff, she thought I was a little crazy.
When she saw me watching Rippetoe videos and others on form over and over again, she thought I was crazy.
She's on vacation, visiting family across the country. Today she put this on my FB wall:

It's girls training for the movie Sucker Punch (which my daughter really liked).
In parts, they are dragging tires, doing push presses and deadlifts. One of the girls talks about a 225lb deadlift and how it helped their fighting skills and all.
My daughter now says: hey mom thought you would love this! Makes me wanna get strong with you as well!
Woot!

16, she'll be 17 in Sept.
She's a tiny little thing, and stronger than she thinks, thanks to the martial arts, but this is a nice change of her mind about what I'm doing.0 -
ngl, one of the things I would REALLY want to join a crossfit gym for is tire flipping. Just because it looks super fun. also all the other fun toys. But not for 100 bucks a month.0

there's nothing like swinging around a sledgehammer and flipping tracker tires that'll make you feel totally BADASS!!! my boot camp does is outside when its nice out. BADASS!!!!

She helped a friend destroy some old furniture with a sledgehammer, and she loves doing that, so I showed her some videos of hitting tires with sledgehammers.
But I can't afford a crossfit or other local strength gym (we have a couple of good ones, but way expensive).0 -
