Diablo 3 - Accidentally sold my Staff of Herding

So if you've assembled the pieces for the Staff of Herding, you probably know that it's a huge f'ing hassle. It's also bound to you, so you can't auction it off or give it away.
But apparently you can sell it to vendors in the game pretty easily! I don't even understand why this should be possible. In what world would I ever sell it by choice, and it's not any special color (I think blue?) ,so when I'm going click happy selling stuff off before I head back into my portal, it was apparently easy enough to just drop it to a vendor in the game.
Disgusted with myself, disgusted with Blizzard for allowing it (among other things I'm disgusted with Blizzard about). Dunno if I'll bother trying to get the pieces again, it was a hassle the first time to say the least, probably 5-6 hours.

You should be able to open a support ticket and get it back. They do it for Wow, anyway.0

Nah, a few other people did the same thing and Bliz didn't do anything for them.
Honestly, it's my fault, it would be nice if it was purple or something so it's obvious that "hey, this this is pretty important, and you probably put a lot of time crafting it, so don't drop it!"
Apparently you can't sell it, so it would have had to be something I dropped because it was a white items and I wasn't thinking.0 -
How long ago did you sell it? Stating the obvious here but I assume it's no longer in the buyback queue.
They used to have it so that you couldn't sell the staff when it was a white item.
For what it's worth, since they made the change last patch that made it so that MF no longer effected chest drops, Whimsyshire has sucked *kitten*. What made Whimsyshire so awesome was the chest loot -- now it's just like farming mobs really.
If I lost mine I wouldn't bother reassembling it.0 -
