Adding foods back into diet

I've been doing really great going wheat free over the last 4 months so today I thought I'd treat myself to 5 french fries at McDonald's. I know they're treated with some kind of wheat flavoring, but I thought just a few wouldn't hurt. Boy was I wrong. Within 5 hours my scratchy throat and cough were back; 3 hours after that a sharp gas pain hit and the burps started. I haven't had that gas pain in a long time, so I guess I shouldn't have eaten even 5 french fries at McDonald's. Hopefully, the symptoms will clear up quickly because the grandchildren are coming and I want to be able to enjoy them.

    Are you feeling any better?

At least you now know you need to avoid them!

I am feeling better, but I'm still learning which foods to avoid. For instance, we went out with friends for bbq last night to celebrate a birthday and I completely forgot that bbq has wheat in it. I coughed most of the night and still having some problems today, but it does seem to be clearing up.

So the journey for wheat-free eating continues.

Still experimenting with different foods at different restaurants. Yesterday we went for hot dogs (brought my own bun), but I had a few fries and didn't get sick! I promise to be careful and not to over do it.

Also, want to continue doing well with getting back into shape again. I've lost 1 dress size in the last 4 months and was able to buy a new swimsuit last night in a smaller size! that was very exciting for me. This morning I was able to get on the back of my husband's motorcycle with no trouble and that was a first since he bought it last year. Initially, we thought the challenge was that this bike is bigger than the last one (and I'm still short), but it appears that if I lose weight and get fit, I won't have a problem.

If I can do this at 63, anyone can do it!
