    Were you also aware that Teddy Roosevelt had 3 while he was in the White House. Laura Ingalls family also had one named Jack when they crossed the prairie. Before people were afraid of them, they were a well respected breed that is loyal, protective, and easy to train.

    Yes, there were pitties in the White House with TR. Helen Keller had a pitbull, and during WW1 the pitbull represented America's initial neutrality. The poster depicted a white pitbull in a jaunty sailor's cap and scarf with the caption: "I don't want to fight, but if I have to, I will!" Several years ago the Tanquaray Gin advertising mascot was a staffordshire terrier with a big grin on his face. I think the caption was something like "Drink Responsiblly and Be Happy."
