I watched this again last night, and it has lost NONE of its magic. What an amazing movie. Sci-fi vs love story with lots of comedy worked in. Some of it is so touching, and some of it is so funny, its a bit of an emotional roller coaster, but so worth it at the end. It also contains some amazing lessons on humanity, and our state as human beings.
Sometimes I watch movies I used to love when I was younger, and they are terrible now, but not this one. It still had all the same magic it did when I was a kid. I did not delete it, as I plan to watch it again.

i agree completely. John Carpenter's Starman is probably one of the most underrated films out there. also features a great great performance by Jeff Bridges in his pre-Dude days. Excellent excellent film.0
