Eating on Vacation

Please tell me someone else has this problem. The closer I get to going home in August the more I think about food. I can't wait to have Godfather's Pizza (The closest one is over 200 miles away), Taco Johns (That is more like a tex-mex than mexican), Perkins (Though that is much lower on the list since they took my favorite thing off the menu) and last but not least we will be in MN during the Steele County Free Fair. OMG REAL cheese curds you know the cheddar ones that are beer battered, not this mozz breaded thing they call cheese curds in AZ.
I know I should be focusing on things that are not food related but the only thing I craved when I was pregnant with my son was those cheese curds.

It is hard but you can just limit the size maybe the calories won't be too bad. However the fat usually will get you and the fact that it is processed. On a side note Culver's opened here in AZ they are from WI and have cheese kurds. I have been to the one in WI and here and they are the same. not to tempt you or anything :devil:0

For the chain businesses try and look at Nutrition info. Get the cheese curds....eat more healthy options during that time.0

I say go prepared with an idea of what you want to eat and look up all the information and eat slim the rest of the day, workout to be able to account for extra calories if you need them and plan plan plan to keep it within your calorie goal. You definitely will end up kicking yourself in the tail if you gain weight by not staying on top of your calorie goal. You definitely can do it and stay within your goal it just takes planning, looking up cal stuff and not going over.0

OH MY ! I Love it! I was actually never a fan of cheese curds, but I do remember ALL of my friends loving them! LOL I gotta say that when I moved to AZ I was shocked that people had no idea what they were! LOL Then some of my friends said they knew what they were because of A&W in the mall and I was like, "NOOOOOOOOO!" LOL I was fan of the "pronto pup" back in the day and of course now get one like once a year since I'm veggie! LOL
oooh have so much fun! I LOVED Perkins! It was a such a high school hang out for me! I do have memories going with my parents back in the day and getting to pick out a toy from the wishing well! When i got older, my parents and I would go to the one in East BLoomington and my friends and I would go to the one off the HWY and Vernon! LOVED THAT ONE! It was a huge hangout for any occasion! LOL
Oooh have so much fun!
A quick tip on the food... It's okay to think of food. But I challenge you to ask about the mental connection we/you/WE ALL create with food. While it is fun to go down memory lane and want to eat the same foods we had then, I bet, if you look deep within yourself you will see that it's kind of a metaphor that is holding you back where you are now... I mean, letting go of something that is enabling you to not make the food/exercise/life choices you want to be making. I say this not to be a debby downer, but say it because it's been true for me, most of the people I talk to food about and well- we are human!
My advice, allow yourself HALF the portion of cheese curds... And everything else- try to eat as clean as possible... I know that's no fun but Chalene once said something like (and I'm paraphrasing),
"When you are on vacation or traveling, THAT is the time to workout and make smart food choices! You are getting to break out of your everyday hustle and bustle of life and actually have more time than if you were at home!"
I think i have heard Jillian Michaels say something similar.... And I'll add my own two cents...
When I go out of town, I do allow myself 1 splurge. Why only 1? Because I work my tail off to get results and I know that if I eat all crazy, I will be only be depressed and angry at myself... which is no way to be! We always gotta love myself. however, we can't NOT indulge every now and then. But eating healthy and being healthy isn't just about what we eat, it's about the willpower to know that we are strong enough to NOT eat everything we want. To know that these situations occur so that we can PROVE HOW STRONG WE ARE! SO THAT WE KNOW THAT WE ARE PROGRESSING PAST OUR OLD WAYS!!!!
I really believe you can do this! I love Perkins, but man if I was to go there I can't eat like I used to! LOL Which would have been a BREAD BOWL filled with ranch dressing, an order of fries, pot of coffee and like half a pack of cigarettes! LOL I can glady and PROUDLY say I don't eat any of that anymore (or smoke)! And i'm much happier for it!
Eat 1 thing you really want and the rest, well girl, we are here to support and I say that you are SO ABLE to make smart choices... if you WANT to! Every day , every meal is a time we can feel proud about ourselves with lasting and visible results of how we feel directly after eating. USe it to your advantage, don't make it a bad thing! You can do this!!!!
MUCH LOVE! HAVE A BLAST!!!!0 -

You would be most disapointed then the bread bowls have been off the menu for 7 yrs. They changed them 8 yrs ago from the soft white ones to whole wheat with chedar and crushed red pepper sprinked rims. As for more time to exercise I am looking forward to and dreading it at the same time. I can't wait to have some more time on my hands but I will be without my bike (not a big deal I can borrow one) no bike trailer for the kids, no jogging stroller and I am too short to run with my regular stroller it throws my stride off. So I guess I will be doing a lot of walking. We are staying with family so no pool either.0 -
No bread bowls?!?!?? LOL Just goes to show you how often I go there, and the fact I haven't been to one since my Freshman year in college when I went back to MN for my high school's homecoming! LOL I really don't eat out often simply because most restaurants don't have a good veggie/vegan menu....
Walking! Sounds like a plan! Sometimes that is enough, just gotta get it in there! YOu can do it!0
