Suits

I'm a SAHM right now, but when the youngest starts school in August, I'm probably going back to work as an attorney. I have about 8 suits in my closet, but, really, only 4 are cute. Tell me to purge! There are weeks when I might need to wear a suit twice if I purge, but it would only be once or twice a year.
And, if you wear suits, do you do matches? I'm thinking of just coordinating jackets and bottoms and not doing matching suits anymore.

I am not a huge fan of matching suits on women. I prefer nice blouse with jacket and a skirt or dress slacks for things like this. Though, it really depends on your profession whether it's appropriate or not. Sometime you need a matching suit.

Right?!? I don't know why I need someone else to tell me to do it, but I do. So thanks.0

No problem! Post some pics when you get the new stuff. I'd love to see what you end up getting.0 -
Closets are too small for clothes you don't love.
If you don't like those other suits, you're not going to wear them. Ever. So free the space and donate them. I think mixing and matching looks more current. Matched suits remind me of Hilary Clinton. And while I respect the woman, I don't want to dress like her.0 -
I only have one suit and it's awesome. Classic, well fitted, black. I very rarely wear it.

I find suits to be too expensive. I have a handful of jackets in basic colors- black, brown, white, gray and also a few simple sweaters. I also have a handful of basic pencil skirts in black, khaki, gray, blue, etc. I can pretty much mix-and-match all of my skirts and jackets and sub out different fun blouses to make each outfit unique. This also allows me to wear my "weekend" shirts because I can cover them up with a jacket. I think in today's day and age as long as you look classy you don't have to wear a full suit anymore. My rule is if I can't mix-and-match, don't buy it. I also save a lot of money on dry cleaning this way!0

PURGE!!! If you don't love it, you won't wear it or you'll wear it not feel good about it! I would say matching suits are out. If you start with one or two pairs of great slacks (I like banana republic because they actually line their pants) in black, navy or tan and one or two pencil skirts you can mix those with patterned blouses (if you have a solid 'bottom' then I like to have some pattern on top), a classic white, fitted blouse is always good to have as well, and a great belt and shoes and you'll be good to go. If you can find some jackets that you like, add them in, but unless you going to court (I think you said you were an attorney), I don't think most days in the office you'll need to wear a suit jacket.
I love TJMaxx and Marshalls for belts, handbags and can often find great prices on blouses. I tend to spend more money on slacks/skirts because I think they are harder to fit. Good luck!0
