I am 49 y/o, 5'9", 152#. I am at my heaviest weight. It is not the weight that concerns me but the unhealthy lifestyle I am living. The extra fat is all in my midsection. I have no energy after a day of work. Being a nurse I know the health problems that I am at a higher risk for because of my diet choices. I believe with simple changes I can have the energy and flatter abs that I desire.
1. I drink diet sodas throughout the day and very little water. I know I am in a constant state of dehydration and that the body functions best being fully hydrated. (especially since I have only one kidney). I know the soda is bad for my teeth and it is increasing my risk for osteoporosis and causing my leg cramps. I WILL start drinking more water and less soda.

2. I eat too many simple carbs that spike my blood sugars. I know I am at higher risk for developing diabetes (family history). I WILL choose whole grain carbs.

3. I snack on junk foods. I know that junk foods have no health benefits and are empty calories. I WILL choose healthy snacks such as fruits, vegies, nuts that have vitamins my body is craving.

4. I am a couch potato once I get home from work. I know that a sedentary lifestyle promotes weight gain. Getting outside in sun and fresh air will improve my mood and vitality. I WILL start taking my dog for a daily walk/jog.

I WILL be a healthier woman with more energy by my 50th birthday in January. My journey begins! What WILL you do to meet your goals?
