So apperantly the guys in my life are shocked by the fact that I can cook and cook well. I have had no less than 3 different requests to make someone dinner .They keep asking what my best dish is to lol. I just find it amusing that guys seem awestruck by the fact that I can cook. Then they say my male roommate/ adopted little brother is a lucky man cause he gets home cooked meals all the time ... Just thought some of you would find this funny. Its Friday and its been a long hard week so anything that puts a smile on someones face is a win :flowerforyou:

I think men today are in awe when a woman can cook, because from what I hear these days is not many women do. I love to cook and have been cooking since I was 6. I guess we are a rare breed!

Sadly, many women (and men) nowadays have fallen to the way of the 'hot pocket'!

"Would you like your hot pocket served ice cold, or lava hot?"

I'm telling you ladies, especially those of you under 45, this is a sure fire differentiator. Try to work this in the conversation early when you're trying to impress the guy. So few women truly cook nowadays.

And especially for the guys that do cook (e.g. me), it's something else you may have in common with him. I love food, I love to talk about food, I love sharing recipes, I love learning how to cook new dishes, etc., and my guess is many men over 30 are similar.

^YUP! It's sad, because nothing tastes as good as home cooked food (in my opinion!) I can cook & I love to bake; grilling I leave to the men

I find this interesting because I often end up discussing food & cooking on dates or in initial emails. Is it really that unusual from a guy's perspective? I had no idea but I guess that's good because I also enjoy cooking and am good at it.

Is it really that unusual? I'm surprised to hear that - all my female friends cook, with varying degrees of proficiency/success/pleasure, and many of the men do too. Dinner/supper parties are a fairly big part of social life here in London. Is that not the same in the US?

Not even close,as a country person that has to cook if I want to eat (or drive nearly an hour to a nice restaurant) I was surprised to find that many of the folks I know that do live in urban areas eat out almost every meal.
Even more surprising was they never ate leftovers.

I discovered this last night that the guy I'm seeing likes to cook and loves the fact that I can as well. :) It's a welcome surprise since I'm not too keen on eating out while getting healthy.

Nope. For the most part in urban areas, it's all about going out and having fun. There are tons of restaurants in DC and the vicinity that cater to the young professionals that would rather go out every night than cook at home.

I am lucky because I grew up mainly with my grandparents. She taught me everything! Made my first apple pie completely from scratch (crust and all) at age 10 home by myself, haha....I LOVE to cook and bake.

Now if only to find someone who would REALLY appreciate it, haha...

I definitely appreciate a woman who can cook mainly because I hate to cook, but I like to eat. If I'm seeing someone who doesn't cook either, I assume in the future we will be eating out all the time, eating crappy food, or fighting over who's turn it is to cook.

I have never really understood people who say that can't cook... isn't that really just saying I can't follow directions??? Cook books spell it out pretty clear on what to do. You don't have to invent dishes.

However I have never dated a girl that cooked, I always cooked for them and made them help out.. they always liked that.

Wow, that's good to know. I used to bring up the fact that I love to cook but it always opened the door for pressure to come over and get a home cooked meal for the next date... which even if I try to be polite about it (and say something like hopefully as we get to know each other I can cook for you), people get so offended by me not being ready for them to come over for our 2nd or 3rd date.

I'll have to figure out a way to bring up cooking again.

I move pretty slow, but I would also save the cooking for a later date than 2nd or 3rd. It almost always ends up in some heavy fooling around...

Now down here we have a lot of place to eat out and such. Which I do enjoy but basically if I want to eat decent and something flavorful I needed to know how to cook. I mean I have several male friends who live on junk ans frozen dinners cause they cant cook and dont want to learn. Let me tell its super sexy when a guy makes dinner for a girl

LOL It doesnt even have to be anything amazing.. though I'm not gonna lie I love a man that can grill a steak. But just the thought of them trying to make me something is so sweet. It reminds me of when I was little and my daddy would try to cook for us if my mom was out on a buiseness trip or something lol. The kitchen always looked like it had exploded and it was never as good as moms but he tried so hard.

I would love a man to cook for me, even just occasionally. Seems kinda sexy actually. Also cooking together has always been a bit of a fantasy for me, but I’ve probably watched “9 ½ Weeks” too many times, hahaha…..

I guess I am completely old school and you can tell i was raised partially by my grandmother. I cook well, sew well, knit well.
I can also do all the stuff outside the house. This comes from being a single mom for so long. I had a guy once tell me that I would make good husband to someone one day. LOL

I always thought athletes had to refrain from sex before an event?? So as not to sap their energy? True or false? :noway:

I would have to say true. Think of all the muscle fatigue and energy expediture during sex. However the orgy usually happens after the contestants finish competing in their events lol
