Safety and Health Concerns

Any ideas? My 4-year-old nonverbal son is really into sticking things up his nose right now. Punishment/reward systems do nothing for him.
Also, we have a major issue with anal digging and poop smearing!
Help! I don't want to just block these behaviors, I want to change them!

tough one. I teach piano to a non-verbal 6 year old, and understand the type of situation you are in.
No ideas on the poop problem, but it sounds like he is discovering his body.
Maybe teach him what the nose if for - encourage smelling with some different things to smell, but take it away if he tries to put it in his nose?
I don't know if it would work or make it worse. Just an idea.0
