Positive thoughts

I ran across this quote this morning " One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day". It got me thinking how true that is and how it directly relates to weight loss. Negativity is our enemy and it's all around, including in our own thoughs. Food is our comfort and that too is all around. A lot of us struggle with positive thoughts about ourselves, or at least I do especially when obsticals get in the way or things don't go like I want. The more we can think positve thoughts the more successful we will be in our weight loss, our lives and our happiness. Just like negative thoughts, one positive thought leads to another and another... I just thought it was something worth sharing. So as I was making my coffee this morning(I'm a Starbucks addict btw :) I thought back to how I used to have my coffee, grande or venti mocha with whip. Over 300 calories and full of sugar. I'm kind of stunned that now I actually like plain coffee/espresso!! Basically 0 calories and 0 sugar. If I get a mocha it's a grand nonfat 2 pump mocha no whip. (I don't do the artificial sweeteners. That's another thing I changed for the positive :) I guess sometimes we have to stop and recognize the small positve things when it's so easy to just dismiss them. What is your small positive thought for the day?

For me, I hang on to how much easier physical activity is now. Before I'd lost weight and was smoking, things like stairs and parking lots would literally take the wind put of me. Now? "they ain't no thang!" I actually say that to myself and grin with the knowedge and realization that it's true. Now when I take a flight of stairs , I'm not winded. When I choose a very distant parking space at the store, I smile and pat myself on the back for adding some extra activity to my day.

Oh my gosh - ya'll motivated me to do something positive today 'cause all your success stories are inspirational.

Today - just 20 minutes ago - i was craving my usual afternoon refined carb snack (pretzels, chips, crackers, etc.). I wanted something crunchy - just really wanted it --- and i had a light lunch and was ready for it.......

So - 3 ounces of steam shrimp is 84 calories. My other snacks are anywhere from 120 - 170. I bought shrimp this weekend and was going to have it for dinner......I was scrounging for something, and trying to keep my positive healthy routine in sight, it hit me --- eat the shrimp.

I'm full. I feel great because I chose a healthy high protein satisfying snack. With the pretzels i just keep eating and eating and eating. Same with other refined high carb snacks.

I need to keep up the feeling and remind myself from here on out .....................
