I was listening to the radio this morning when the DJ mentioned that James Holmes from the Aurora, CO shootings this past week was on Match.com. His profile has been taken down, by the way.

I just wanted to hear if/how this accusation has effected you dating online.

    Its a reminder to us all that get comfortable with online dating to take things slow. Email back and forth for awhile to weed out any one who obviously is mentally unstable. Also ,read peoples profiles carefully sometime you can pick up on signs there too.

    It doesn't affect me at all. I am not going to stop doing what I am doing just because of one crazy person.

    Oh and I almost forgot. I always meet for the first time in a public place during the day. It just makes me feel more comfortable.

    I'm not gonna stop doing what I'm doing either... but I already appear to be more cautious than most folks in this forum.

    You never know who's crazy, who has diseases, who has a crazy ex, who will pull a "For Colored Girls..." on you.

    And I'm so sorry to hear of this senseless waste of life. I can't imagine what level of crazy that guy is. Have they established a motive yet? Young guy like that studying to be a medic?? to SAVE lives???? Yep, madness!!!

    Apparently he isn't being coorporative so no not yet.

    He did have some danger signs in his profile apparently. His tag line was something along the lines of "Will you visit me in jail?"

    Not shocking I suppose but really serves as a reminder that ANYONE can be on there. I tend to behave naively quite honestly, so in some ways, it's something I needed to see. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt too often, especially when I connect enough to feel comfortable. SCARY though!

    I just read it was adultfriendfinder.com that he was on and he was looking for casual sex. Saying he got turned down 3 times the night he did the shooting.
