I went on a glutenfree diet less then three weeks ago. Up to now my period was very regular but now it came early which has never ( what I can recall) happened before. Can this have any thing to do with me going gluten free?
Anyone with similar stories?

My period didn't change significantly when I went gluten free, but gluten/intolerances can affect your reproductive system as well as any other system in your body.
I have had other things impact my period - stress, changes in exercise, etc. They can cause break-through bleeding, shorten or lengthen your cycle, make it heavier or lighter, whatever.0 -
Yes, it could have something to do with going gluten free. Your body is altering how it works, without the gluten. (in a much healthier way!) This can affect your thyroid, and other hormones. I would not worry about it. Give it a couple months months and see if things don't return to regular for you, before you worry and think you need to see a doctor.0

Sorry, I was post menopause when I was diagnosed with Celiac....I do know that the combination of menopause and Celiac, I did suffer some depression..might have been hormonal.....0

I've gone gluten free over the last year and my periods have also started coming early and just recently only 2 weeks after the last one!
I never considered it could be that! I just assumed I was starting peri-menopause as I'm 43 and do incidentally also have thyroid problems.0 -
Thank you all! My pms was also worse this month then earlier and even thou my period was early the first three days were very slow and almost no bleeding, just last nite it got heavier. I will just have to adjust, feels good to know its probably the glutenfree diet that has made my body react.0

If two weeks apart, you may be seeing breakthrough bleeding at ovulation, rather than 2 periods. Do you alternate between heavy and light periods? Of course it could also be something like fibroids, in which case the sooner you can get it checked out, the better. My mom had very heavy bleeding with fibroids and ended up in hospital a couple of times before they fixed her up.I've gone gluten free over the last year and my periods have also started coming early and just recently only 2 weeks after the last one!
