reconciling the disconnect between MFP and online dating

I don't buy the "you're so hot" comments on MFP. I'm sorry but call me bitter but there's so much, um hype, on here. I've seen guys who would never be approached by certain type of women be called hot and sexy when in reality these guys would be the lonely ones at the bar.
Same with women.

Couldn't have said it better. There are threads where it's like "Is the person above you hot? Be ready to take the truth!" and I'm just waiting for the day when someone is like "Oh no, so and so is god-awfully hideous." The person could look like a gremlin, but everyone's like "Yeah you're a hottie!"

that's what i'm getting at carl. my online and real life are my reality. but, what people think of me on MFP is my fantasy. i like it. i like that people think i'm attractive and want to flirt.

but, in my real life no one does those things. NO ONE!! i blend into the background, i get looked over, just like on OKC. MFP blows me up, and OKC brings me back to real life. :-)

yes, who i am here, is exactly who i am. and i wrote the exact same things on my profile that i wrote here. same pics, etc. i don't get hit on in real life, ever!!!

1. Most people on MFP are never gonna meet you. They will flirt with you, and act all interested but when push comes to shove they will usually poof. So recommend enjoying the attention, but don't get caught up in it.

2. If your pic on OKC is the one you have here (taken from above), I wonder if guys look at the pic and think you're hiding too much so they pass on. Someone on another thread called such pics icebergs. You're so cute I can't think of any other reason why you wouldn't get more immediate interest.

what do you mean "hiding too much" or "icebergs?"

I'm probably gonna get jumped for this one... lol... but "icebergs" are people who post just one face shot, taken from above to make themselves look thinner, but when you meet in person they are very obese. Judging from your other MFP pics, this does not apply to you. I've been told many guys will skip over women with this kind of pic because they are not interested in dating someone obese.
