Any Houstonians Doing Town Lake or Fairfield?

I just registered for Fairfield and am considering Town Lake. I have a fear of open water swimming, let me explain. I have a fear of FISH! I don't like to eat them, touch them, be around them. Do you see them or touch them in open water?

I would really like to do that one because it will be my nieces first one as well.

Volunteering for Fairfield and doing the Olympic at Towne Lake.

To tell you the truth in most of the races around here you can't see your hand in front of your face once you get going. There is really no need to worry about fish.

I had planned on doing the Sprint at Towne Lake, but ended up opting out of it due to time and financial commitments. Somehow I managed to forget that I actually have to go back to grad school this fall...

Planning on an Olympic in probably a year from now after I've finished my qualifying exams.

Oh and speaking of the murkiness of the water most tris are held in. Do yourself a favor and don't buy white racing gear. It will turn brown in many of the lakes and then it's trash
