8/4/12: Weekend Strategies

Last weekend I posted about how I had two big parties to attend and how easy it is for me to lose focus on my goals when tempted with grazing and a little extra drinking. This weekend it is the exact opposite...no big plans, just hanging out at the house relaxing, which offers its own struggles. I had a very hectic and stressful work week (with more of the same for just awhile longer) so I really don't need to do much of anything but give myself permission for some serious down time. But down time for me usually means mindless movie/tv watching, computer strolling, baking, and let's face it...CONTINUOUS SNACKING! I was trying to plan out my food consumption when I realized how annoyed I was getting because (honestly) I would rather mindless snack than be structured. How can I best plan for unstructured eating? So far, this is what I have come up with, but hoping to have a few of you chime in with some additional strategies. All experience, strength, or hope offered would be appreciated!!
1. Cut up tons of veggies to munch on with fat free ranch dressing.
2. Keep a big glass of water with me all day, and rotate different fresh flavor additions to satisfy my need for creative "cooking".
3. Still do my workout at the gym, but spend an extra hour or so laying out at the pool with a good book.
4. Eat lower calorie meals to allow for as many extra snacks as possible.
5. Try to make good protein choices to avoid carb cravings.
6. Start checking out various exotic beach locations (next summers reward for hitting long term goal) during computer time
Wish me luck, I'll let you know later how it goes!!
