I'm an insect repellent

Seems everyday there's a story about the excessive mosquitoes.
What I do every summer is take brewer's yeast and garlic supplements.
I think I still smell okay to humans (no one has said anything anyway) and to my dog. But I don't smell good to insects and they stay away. I see them near me but they don't land on me. Sometimes I see them actually turn away from me.
I live in the Boston area and have spent a lot of time along the Charles River. I camp in the woods of Maine. I have cleared streams and swamps in mid summer. Ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, black flys .... they all leave me alone.
I am my own insect repellent!
Anyone else ever try this?
