I was just wondering if any of you ladies are using certain recipes and meal plans throughout your pregnancy? My previous pregnancy i put on 70lbs eating whatever i wanted to but this pregnancy i have been seriously healthy and need new ideas about what to eat. so far i eat salads twice a day. i just dont know what i should be eating i only want to gain the 15 - 25 lbs. my dr is recommending gaining only the 15lbs.

Anything you ladies can come up with would be fabulous.

thank you sooo much.

tina

I am trying to focus on eating a good protein with every meal and cutting down on carbs. One thing that helps me is to keep a supply of frozen semi-healthy meals on hand. I like to have a hot lunch sometimes.

I am trying to start my day with more protein, since anything else leaves me hungry an hour later!

I found a recipe for protein pancakes that I'm going to try tomorrow:

    1/2 cup old fashioned oats
    1/2 cup cottage cheese
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/2 - 1 tsp of cinnamon
    4 egg whites

Blend all in blender and cook like pancakes! This is one serving.

When I added this to the recipe builder, I used 2% cottage cheese and 2 whole eggs (instead of egg whites). The calorie count was near 400 with 29 grams of protein. You could definitely lower the calories by using fat free cottage cheese and egg whites, but I think the extra fat also helps me stay full.

Fyi- I made these yesterday morning with 2 whole eggs and the full tsp of cinnamon. They were delicious even my 3 yr old like them with some cinnamon and sugar on them!

    I love green smoothies!

This one may be an acquired taste, but...I love it! It's got a ton of folate and calcium, and with the prunes, it helps you avoid the dreaded constipation that comes with pregnancy:

1 cup unsweetened almond coconut milk (45 calories)
    2 cups spinach (10 calories)
    5 pitted prunes (100 calories)
    1 frozen banana (100 calories)

Blend. Add ice as needed to make the smoothie thicker. I like mine to be shake-like so I put in a ton of ice.
