WORKOUTS

Hey, so i have been on MFP for just over 3 months now. When i started I had a huge amount of motivation to loose all the excess weight. I would workout everyday and logged in religiously everyday. By the time the motivation has sort of faded away I stopped working out due to late work hours. I still log in thou but it still isn't as satisfying as it was when i started here.
I would love to know what you guys do to keep yourself growing everyday and keep yourself motivated.
What fitness/workout routines do you follow.

I just joined this group today and would love to find back the lost motivation and reach my goal by december, That's also when I'm getting married :) so would love some inspiration!
Thanks ya'll

Personally, I wear my tighter clothes that I don't fit into around the house...it pretty much eliminates all the temptation to veer off my routine haha. Workout speaking, I think about how i would feel if I did go workout compared to how I would feel if I didn't (that solves that) I go on the elliptical machine while watching 2 episodes of the office on my phone and I'm done.

Something that really drives me is setting goals. I think about (or you can actually make a list) of all of the things that would be great, better, easier, etc. about losing that weight. Then I set goals for how much I want to lose by when, or by some other criteria. It really helps me to stay focused because it isn't so daunting when it is broken down into smaller bits. Then you just have to focus on doing what you can to reach that goal, even if the actual weight loss isn't as motivating as it used to be. Rewards could help too! And goal setting could be a great device with your wedding coming up!

    Hope this helps!

Congratulations on your big day!!! :)

I've been the same way as you. I was extremely motivated in the beginning when everything was still new and exciting. Then a few months after that I started getting unmotivated and just didn't want to do anything. i was still watching what I was eating, thus still lost weight, but exercise wise I just didn't feel it anymore.

Now the thing I did was pushing through it. I got back up, took two steps back and just started observing what's happened. I started to actually see changes and asked myself: "Do you really want to give all this up?" A simple NO was my answer. I felt great and wanted to continue feeling that way. I had come too far already to throw it all out the window, so I decided on pushing through.

I tried new things, played different sports and started liking it again. It took me a few months to get to loving it again, but I did it, and when I look back now I'm glad I did push through.

It's not easy not being motivated. For me it actually sucked really bad, but when you set your mind to something you can do it. Nothing's impossible. So get on out there and get moving again. Try new things, change your attitude and you'll get to loving it again.

For everyone who wants to add me as a friend, go ahead and send me a friend request. Kindly add a little note so I know where you're from.

Together we can do this. Being an athlete is hard work sometimes and is painful, but with inspiration from other people we can move down this path together.

Have you thought about getting a workout partner? I was just reading in a magazine that having a workout partner increases your workouts by like double. You're more motivated and competitive. I've found that to be 100% TRUE. I had one partner, and we went 3 days a week, and then gradually she stopped going. Shortly after I did too. I've got a new partner now and she is amazing. She makes me want to work harder, and I'm so excited because I need that motivation and someone to be accountable to.

thankyou all for sharing your insights.. every word helps in motivation... i know i need to keep my head to it and start pushing myself and im hopinng to do that from today onwards and not losing focus.!

and yes you are very right about getting a partner, I really want to but none of my friends are upto it apparently. I wanna join zumba classes so that i have something to look forward to everyday and be in a strict routine, so hopefully i would find someone who can inspire and be motivational cuz currently i do believe that the only reason i get off track so easily is not having a partner.
