I am getting ready to put together some songs to upload. I have 4 different categories--Indie-Rock---Children's- -Spoken Word-Ambient-Jazz. :smokin:

Which sites do you like to upload your original music and promote? And do you use different sites for each differing categories?
Do you sell onsite or use CD baby--ITunes

If you are considering Myspace I'd say the first thing you need to do is get that out of your head immediatly... it's not even a vibrant place for musicians anymore.

If you wish to distribute music on Facebook then use Reverbnation as the two work really well together.

Soundcloud is great as is Bandcamp, though Bandcamp will end up charging you if you give away too many free downloads (this is apparently to encourage artists to make money from there music, but it's clearly a way to recoup money on bandwidth use) these 2 are probably the best websites to use these days.

If you want to get onto itunes/amazon MP3 & Spotify then you can do that threw Reverbnation at the industry standard of $50 per year

The only CDs we sell are at shows.

This is our Soundcloud profile if you want an idea of what it's like http://soundcloud.com/pestotheband
I particularly like the 'Sets' function which allows you to group songs by album

Wow--great info. Thanks. I thought MySpace for music might be outdated-right? I am putting up a fan page on Face Book
    and thought to use ReverbN

So--Soundcloud or BandCamp and Reverbnation. Awesome.

Have you ever used CD Baby?---most of my friends--use that.
Off to check out your band!---thanks

Hit every site. Myspace may be dated, but it was purchased recently by justin timberlake and they seem to be turning myspace into a MTV like site for music. Its a great site, very user friendly.

    myspace, reverbnation(my favorite), bandcamp.

I play out a lot. I hear people pitch their reverbnation or bandcamp sites.
