This is really sad...some of these were clearly really beautiful homes in their day. Makes me wonder what my Grandparents and Great Grandparents once-fantastic Detroit homes look like now...probably better I don't do a drive-by to see though

I think you are better off not to go look. They may not even be there anymore, as sad as that is to say. I am in real estate on the west side of Michigan and was shocked to learn from another appraiser in a class I took that many of the homes in Detroit are selling for $200-$500. REALLY - I am not kidding. It's sad what has happened in all of Michigan, but Detroit especially.

Yeah, not to mention most of the neighborhoods aren't safe to drive through with all the crime...what a shame! I hope it turns around, but with all the corruption and in-fighting with Detroit government, its not likely to happen anytime soon.
