Geocache Containers & Geocoins!

Well, most Geocachers (myself included) get tired quickly of pill bottle / film canister / micro type caches. Their are so many of them that are like that & it takes a lot of fun out of it because really all that can fit in something like that is the log sheet.

We usually go for the more unusual caches that may have trade items or the coveted Geocoin in it. Love Geocoins! (totally awesome that they can travel the world!!) We just found one yesterday that was called "Cheep Hotel" that was actually a bird house painted green to blend into the tree foliage & it had a chain attached to the front of it with a locking metal pill canister at the end of it that was then hidden inside the bird house. Unusual & awesome!

Water-proof is an absolute must when it comes to choosing a Geocache container!

Our first cache was like this (hidden in California):

Our second cache was like this (hidden in Arizona):

Grab Bag Cache Capsule (what was attached to the bird house)

We have two Geocoins (We bought 2 of each. We released 1 set & kept the other 2. My first Crikey coin traveled a little over 500 miles & then some asshat apparently kept it.. Had wanted it to make it to the Australia zoo. *unfortunately happens a lot when you have an unusual geocoin* My husband's first Marine Geocoin actually made it to the Middle East & the Marine that had it said that he was coming home soon & that he would release it when he got back to the USA. Either he forgot about it or he was killed. We don't know & we hope that he is okay... That coin traveled over 10,000 miles!

We activated our second set yesterday & are keeping them with us for mileage so they can't get stolen again:

Good luck & Happy Caching!!!

i have about 250 geocoins i have purchased and i would never release them into the wild. i take them to events so people can discover them. have you considered getting a pathtag? they are cheap and meant to be kept by the finder.

Are you on Geocaching.com? My husband and I are teamKizzle! Since the season (here in AZ ) is about to start... for hiking, we love travel bugs and such... once my husband knows that a bug has been put in one of our caches, he is bound and determined to go get it and put it somewhere else...

    LOL I <3 geochaching! :)
