31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— 33 even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved.

This Scripture really came to me in a big way this morning. I am hoping that everyone is using prayer as part of their workout routine. In His strength we accomplish much more than we do on our own. Verse 33 was at first an afterthought. I was totally into verse 31. I was all about making sure that making sure my eating and my "body as a temple" was part of showing my love for God and Christ. However, it was verse 33 that hit me like a ton of bricks. Why are we trying to lose weight

To Live longer?
To get attention?
Self gratification?
Pursuit of "healthy lifestyle"?

I don't think any of these are promised to us by God in His Word. He does promise a "new body" and a "new life" with Him in an Eternity with no Elliptical machines or planks. What an amazing blessing when we rely fully on God as our guide in this struggle. He has already defeated this problem in our life; in a manner that is designed to point us and other to Him. The victory is won. What a blessing our weightloss becomes when we use it to present the Good News to people who don't know Christ.

Or we can tell them how many calories we ate or how much we love Special K protein shakes.

What a nice post JDub. Dieting can be very self-centered. But I know a healthier body will also glorify my Lord!
