Weekend

The weekend is upon us. For me, Sundays are the most difficult. It is family day
and that means food....muffins in the morning, snack food for lunch and dinner out.
It's always a struggle. I try to get in early morning exercise to start the day off right.
If anyone has strategies that work for them, please share. We can all learn from
each other.

Hi Lola612, it's me, Maniiaa.......I know what you mean about families with food.....they are all from ANOTHER PLANET! What I find helpful is, I take in some form of exercise to keep my motivation up (i.e. - walking, step aerobics, biking) and then what I do is make up a bunch of healthy dishes/snacks (i.e. - Hummus and assorted veggies like carrotts, celery, cukes), marinate some chicken breast or shrimp or both for variety with lemon juice, garlic, herbs, salt n pepper), make a salad mesculin greens, romaine lettuce, top it with cukes, red/orange peppers, tomatoes (fresh when in season...yummy), slice some green olives, cut up a few black pitted olives and place them in the center of the bowl, then I sprinkle feta cheese around and call it a day! I love rice vinegar instead of salad dressings. It's delish. Then what happens, everybody ends up eating what I made....go figure! For a non-alcoholic beverage, I'll take a wine glass, pour in some flavored selter (I love Cranberry/Lime) and add a lemon or lime and no one questions why I'm not joining them for a cocktail. Or, sometimes when they ask, I simply tell them I'm in training....then the eyes start to roll.....whateva!! ;0)
So hang in there and try to keep focused on your goals and you will get through it, I promise. I want to hear from you on how your weekend went...Good Luck!! From your myfitnesspal Pal!0 -
Thanks Maniaa, I'm fortunate that I eat a Mediterranean diet for the most part.
The down side is the fresh bread. Once I get past that, I'll be good to go.
It seems for me that if I am not actively losing weight, I'm gaining.
I have never gotten a hold of maintenance. This time I vow to be different.
A life spent constantly battling weight, has taken me, and others like me, away
from my true purpose. In all my years, I have yet to pinpoint what that purpose
may have been. Is it too late? Not sure. But one thing is for sure. There is
no giving up on self-improvement.0
