Nut Butter Baked Apples adapted from http://www.spiciefoodie.com/2012/01/25/almond-butter-baked-apples/
My changes are in bold
Ingredients
Apples, properly rinsed ( i used 1 fuji)
Almond Butter, (1/2 Tablespoon,I used homemade cashew/walnut butter)
oats (1 Tablespoon)
EVOO ( I used the mister)
salt
crushed flax seeds, optional
baking sheet or dish
I also added a teaspoon of cinnamon and a teaspoon of maple syrup
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 200c or 392f375F and have baking sheet or dish ready. Hold the apples on their sides to cut off the tops, save these tops. Use a small pairing knife to gently core the apples. You only want to remove the core but not too much of the apple. Rub a little olive oil around the apples, the sprinkle a little bit of salt on the apple skin. Stuff a few oats into the cored bottom of the apple, this is to block draining. Next place about 1 tbsp Almond Butter into the apple core. Sprinkle some crushed flax seeds over the top then use the cut apple top to cover. Place on baking sheet or dish in center of oven.
2. Bake for 15 minutes or until your apples are soft. Allow to cool slightly before serving. I bet they would taste even better with a scoop of ice cream.
next time, I think I might do 20 minutes to make it a little softer and bake with the maple syrup instead of adding it after

I loved baked apples but have never tried anything like this. We are making a pre-Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings on Saturday so I think I will add this as a yummy dessert option. If I can wait that long to try it.0

The oatmeal is really good in here. On the top is a great idea. I am not sure how it would cook though. Maybe I can play around with it next time, I make nut butter.
Nvm, the steam will probably cook it. I still want to try this. Oatmeal on top and bottom!
Thanks0
