Always Hungry!!

Ok, so I'm really early in my pregnancy, but can already tell a difference in my eating habits. Mainly, I'm always hungry! I feel like I can't get full. I drink lots of water, and try to eat healthy options. BUT, I'm still hungry. I have had an Iced Chai drink, a bottle and a half of water, a Clif bar, and a banana in 3 hours and my stomach is starting to growl again. What are you guys eating to keep you full??

Cheese sticks, eggs, carrot sticks, more water, almonds.... My first trimester was spent nauseus and sleeping so I ate whatever I could keep down.0

Some days, absolutely nothing will keep me full! I can always tell when baby is having a growth spurt, because a breakfast that usually keeps me full for 4 hours leaves me hungry after 1 hour!
I try to eat more meals in a day so that I can eat more often. That really helps. Cliff Mojo bars, cheese sticks, cheese and crackers, banana & peanut butter...0 -

Exactly! I normally eat a Clif bar for breakfast around 8 or 9 at work, and it will keep me full until around noon-ish. My lunch is at 1:30, so I can normally eat a banana to tide me over until then. Unfortunately, for the past few days, I can't seem to get anything to keep me full!0 -
I have the same issue! I am constantly hungry. I have been trying to eat every hour or two because I get feeling bad if I don't. My problem is I am all about carbs lately. Cereal, bagels, etc. sound so good to me. :-( I am trying to keep my calories for the day in check, but I haven't been doing the best job. I try to incorporate apples and protein when I can.0

I had a few weeks in the first trimester where I basically ate non-stop. I was so hungry that it seemed like no amount of food could satisfy me, and I stopped counting calories during that time. I tried bringing more food to work, eating my lunch/snacks in bits and pieces thinking spreading everything out so I was eating almost every hour would help, filling up on water... Nothing worked. Your hormones are raging, and they'll settle down after a bit. Just try to stick with healthy food options, and remember it's temporary, so don't worry if you end up over your calories some days. :flowerforyou:0

YES - I feel like all I want to eat is bagels!!! I did that with my first pregnancy, and it assisted in my gaining 60 pounds. (Well, ice cream was another HUGE culprit.)
But, like the OP, I am very early in (4.5 weeks), and all I want to do is EAT. I already had a Kashi bar between breakfast and lunch (I don't normally eat inbetween the two meals), but I just took it in stride and am eating my lunch over time. Yesterday I had two bean burritos from Taco Bell (I would have only eaten one if I'd realized they were over 400 calories each), but I was really satisfied all day. I had a light dinner and was cool for the rest of the night... so maybe if I eat a bigger lunch, I'll have energy during the day and won't eat that much at night?
Who knows, but either way I'm trying to keep healthy stuff on hand so that if I do feel the need to eat everything in sight, it's not garbage.0 -
Yup, I am only 4.5 weeks myself RBXChas! When is your due date? Mine is May 23rd. :happy:0

I was pretty much like that in my first trimester, I had calories set at maintenance, but almost always went over by about 200 calories a day, but I would feel icky if I didn't eat. The 2nd was better but I still had days, and in the 3rd it's getting a little better...perhaps I'm running out of room?0

This was my exact experience! I ate sooooo much, but only gained 4 pounds in the first trimester. The crazy hunger did go away eventually, and returned in the third trimester Listen to your body, and feed it if it's growling at you!
And congrats!0 -
I am currently 9 weeks. I don't have much of an appetite due to nothing sounding good... but I do get hungry every few hours even if I don't feel like eating. I've just been eating whatever will go down, but I'd say to stick with small meals every few hours with some sort of protein. Fruit with peanut butter, hard boiled egg, string cheese or just cheese and crackers, a glass of milk etc. That seems to be helping me stay full, but also with the queasy stomach. If I go too long without eating I start to feel really sick. Congrats to you!!0

Well, I checked online, and it is supposed to be May 26th! So we're close
My first doctor's appointment is 10/9, and last time I was pregnant, I had calculated my due date online, but my doctor told me one day later. So I don't know how whatever online thing I used compared to her round chart thingy, but I am assuming 5/26 for now!
I'm kind of psyched for a May baby because it won't be too hot yet, and it's already starting to cool down here (kinda sorta, it's still pretty warm in SC). Plus my birthday is in May, my son's birthday is in January, and my husband's birthday is in January - so if all goes to plan we will have two little birthday clusters
Edited because I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS! Isn't it exciting?0 -
Thank you so much RBX! Congrats to you too!
I counted 40 weeks from the first day of my last period on a calendar. It put me at May 23rd. When I scheduled my first appointment (for Oct 15th, our wedding anniversary!), I asked the nurse if she could tell me a due date. She told me the same, May 23rd. I'm really excited about it being in May. I was miserable while I was carrying my son, he was born Nov 21, 2008. Also, May 23rd is my parents wedding anniversary, so what an awesome gift that will be!!0
