Visiting my local running club

Ok, my story on running so far:-
Joined a gym 18th July, started with just a 5 min walking warm up on treadmill. They were holding a pentathlon challenge which I decided to have a go at which included 3km, so upped the treadmill to this & tried the 30secs run/2 min walk - the first time I did this I got off & thought I was going to be sick or faint! Thankfully neither. I then heard about the C25K programme & started to follow that & am currently on week 5.
I completed my 1st 5K at the local Eastbourne Park Run on Saturday in 35:13 - that was a surprise! Sunday I then went for a jog along the seafront & managed 4.59miles in 56:59. I hope to continue to 10k - possible race 2nd Dec, & potentially our local Hastings Half Marathon in March. I've heard quite a lot of good reports on the benefits of joining a local club, freindship, support, coaching, run partners etc, so contacted our local one Hastings Runners to ensure my capabilities would be ok.
They are happy to have beginners & am going along for my first visit tonight. I am a tad nervous as have no idea what to expect, but know I should be ok, as long as I remember to go at my own pace & not start too quickly.
Anyone have fond memories (or otherwise) of their first visit to a running club?

I visited my local, super small town running club once. I found that i was a bit to advanced to get anything out of it, there were faster members than me, but i only met two of them, and they only turned up once each in the brief time i was with them. That said, there was a lot of comradery there, and it was nice to do thinks that deviated from my training programme and just meet other runners. This post has reminded me to join my slightly less local, bigger running club. Thanks!0

If you fancy running, go check out a club!
It was brilliant, everyone is really friendly, different groups for different levels of fitness etc, with a coach allocated to each group. On your run out & about, they set a point to run/jog to, eg traffic lights, junction etc, you start your run & those a bit quicker get to that point then back to the last person & run behind them til they get there, full of encouragement. I can't wait for my next run! Think I will definitely be joining! I even kept up with some of the regulars! So chuffed & just a tad excited! Oh, 4.55 miles was the length last night!

Our running club is wonderful! My husband joined before I did seeing as he has been running for years and I have only been running for one. But~the people there are great! We meet at 6:00 on Sat mornings and run distances of 10-20 miles depending upon the week and the upcoming racing schedule. There are always shorter distances available for slow pokes like me and people who do not want to go that far (I am getting to where it does not matter the distance~I can do it now!). The variety of the ability/speed of the various people there makes it so that you can always find a person with which to run. I highly recommend getting with a local group. We look forward to our long runs on Sat with our group of friends!0
