My name is Ann and I am having my gastric bypass surgery in Houston, TX tomorrow morning. I have gained about 10 pounds a year over the last ten years and am very thankful for a chance at a new and healthier life. I am a Type I Diabetic on an insulin pump and was diagnosed at age 15. Being overweight has caused major problems for me. I have a couple of friends who have had this surgery and have done well with it. I know my weaknesses (Mexican food!) and have studied nutrition for years--at one time I was a nutrition major in college and would eventually like to go back and finish that degree. Tomorrow starts a new and challenging life for me and I will discover who I really am again. It's been suppressed a long time--hidden behind the shame of being overweight. I wish luck to everyone who is going through what I am and kudos to those who have had success with it. I look forward to sharing experiences with all of you!
