1.25 lb plates

I'm thinking about purchasing some 1.25 plates to take with me to the gym. I think 5 lb increments will be fine for squat and deadlifts, but not so sure about bench and OHP. Thoughts from the ladies who are already through the program?

I am three weeks off the 12 week mark...I increased 5 lbs every session until I could no longer do it and then dropped to 5 lbs per week using the madcow system for my upper body (bench, row and overhead press) Am still increasing by the larger increments for my legs, the heavy stuff seems no problem for them still, which means a round 2 will be looming at some point next year.0

Hmm..
I ordered the 1.25 pair of plates from Amazon. When I start the program next week, I will try to do the prescribed 5-lb increase every workout, but when that gets too hard I will go down to 2.5-lb increments. I'm guessing it will hit bench and OHP first.0 -
I've only been on the program about a month but after the first 2 weeks I ordered fractional plates. Going up by 2.5lbs has made the program workable for me but might not be for everyone.0

I have the 1.25 lb plates too - I love them. I was really struggling to break through on the bench and OHP without them.0

love love love my fractional plates
I would NOT be lifting where I'm at on bench or OHP without them. I'm convinced.0 -
Good to know! Thanks0

your gym should also have 2.5 pound plates. my gym only has 1 set of the 1.25 pound plates and they arent kept with the other plates so you might want to check around before you buy.
and yeah i use the 1.25 very often. especially on the bench and overhead press0 -
I was warned ahead of time by mendhi to buy my own 2.5 and 1.250
