Possible to lose 55 lbs by February??? New to this.

I'm just starting out, and need to lose about 75 in total. I am 225 now, but I'm built like a linebacker. I'm size 16 jeans, although I wish I carried my weight in my hips and *kitten*, like normal women. I lift weights a little, more cardio, but I'm wondering if I should be doing weights at all? The only real reason I do weights is to firm up. I don't want my tits down to my belly button by the time I'm done.

Anyone have any success stories, of how you've been doing, or any motivating words of wisdom???

I've been fat for way too long, at least 15 years. It's time I took off the pregnancy weight, ya right, more like sit on my *kitten* and eat chocolate weight.

You can do it if you want it bad enough, i think everyone gets to a certain point and then kicks butt!

Hi. Everyone is different. Depends on the type of food you eat, how much you eat, what and how much exercise you do, your lifestyle etc. I started my journey with 55 lbs to lose and it's been nearly a year and I am not even halfway yet. I eat healthy and I exercise, so go figure. SOmetimes if you have a lot to lose, you see quicker losses in the beginning.

As for exercise, a good mixture of cardio days and strength training days is a good idea.

I was in a similar situation after my first son. About the same amount to lose and just sick of being tired and overweight. I started rowing. I rowed 5 days a week 30-40 minutes a day and I got down to 170 in a year, and wore a size 10 wedding dress! Since then I had another kid, got down to 160 and have gained 15 since then and am trying to get back down to the 150s. For me it was consistency and changing my diet. I think weight lifting is great because muscle is smaller than fat and it burns more calories than fat. If you enjoy it, then do it! I won't stick with anything for long if I don't like it. Luckily I was given a Concept 2 rowing machine and it has been the only machine cardio I really like. I also walk fair amount. Good luck!

I started at a whopping 265 and unlike you I am always butt heavy. I started barely being able to walk out of the neighborhood and now I do all sorts of excercise. I like to vary it because I get bored so quickly. However, once I was a few months into it, the dietician told me to add weights or strength training along with cardio. First of all it's totally good for your bones, your core, your frame and it helps you burn fat and become leaner. So yes do weights and cardio. Don't give in, stay focused and drink a lot of water. I went from being a total "coke" head and never touched water to drinking 8 full glasses of water a day and replacing coke with water and one diet pop daily.
