So I just got a call from my Dr, she is putting me on some medications to help with PCOS, Birth control combined with Metformin. Not really sure what to expect. If any of you ladies have had experience with Metformin please let me know how it helped you.

I have been dealing with PCOS for a long time now, I am really looking forward to treatment, and hope it helps.

I started 500 mg twice a day in April and have been up to 1000 mg twice a day since July. I have lost most of my weight since then but not all of it. So I think it helped with that a little. Just so you know, the side effects can be crazy - you might feel sick for a few weeks. (Some report even longer). Some people report that if they eats carbs, especially sugar, they will get sick. I have the opposite problem. When I tried to go very low carb, I got low blood sugar and got very ill.

I am picking up the medication tonight I can't decide if I am going to start it tonight with dinner or start tomorrow morning. I am worried about the side effects, how ever I am hoping the good it does will be greater then the side effects. She wants me to take one pill a day for a week, and then switch to twice a day the following week.
