I was reading a weekly article I get in the Washington Post online about Vitamin D and studies show it does NOT prevent one from getting Upper Respiratory Infections or rather the common cold.
I was a little surprised because I have never heard this claim but a lot of people are taking in hopes of not getting sick!! I do know Vitamin D helps promote the immune system but to hope on specific vitamin let alone a specific food or diet will irradicate all of our fears for any disease or disorder is to ME not seeing the whole picture.
The foods we eat esp the healthy ones provide on totality a great combination when eaten together to keep our bodies functioning at peak.
However, this alone is not enough. Keeping our immune systems intact also assisted by reducing stress, adequate sleep and WASHING YOUR HANDS ALL THE TIME!!!!!!! REPEAT WASH YOUR HANDS ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!! Limit touching your face too!
Challenge: Eat healthy, sleep well, exercise, stay home when sick to prevent transmission to others and WASH your HANDS!!!!!!!
Peace and Love to you all,
Wonder Woman

Love this post; thanks! I've made it a habit to wash my hands AS SOON AS I walk through the door when I get home. This way, nothing in my house is touched with germie hands.
I've also made it "fun for me" (lol) and my friends get a kick out of it too when they're over... you know when Bath and Body Works have those big sales on hand soap? I buy as many as the sale is (last time it was 8) and line them ALL up at my bathroom sink. This way I get to choose which scent I wash my hands with each and every time. It makes me feel like a kid in a way, but why not? LOL
Knock on wood I haven't had a cold or flu since 2009 (and had a 10 yr old in the house - before that was about 5 yrs prior). Definitely wash your hands! And sneeze into your elbow or a kleenex... and for pete's sake, don't hang on to the kleenex to continue using later... throw it out and get a fresh one.0 -
I'm a bit of a handwasher too.
It's funny...when my son was in the ER a couple of days ago (he fell backwards & hit his head on a desk - he's fine though) I had him use hand sanitizer about every 30 minutes. I don't trust what goes around in hospitals. Yikes!0 -
