What's in a name?

I just read about a Victoria's Secret model named Martha that just got married...clearly her older-fashioned name didn't stop her!
Not at all. A good looking body makes up for a lot. But a good attitude keeps someone around for the duration.0 -
This thread reminds me of the scene in "When Harry Met Sally...". When Harry tells Sally that it isn't possible for a guy named Sheldon to be good at sex. hahahahahaha0

Hahaha thats funny, I dont think theres much in a name. Some names will sound better than others sure, but I wouldnt knock someone back on the base of that.
Funny how people seem to have the common trend of being surrounded by people with similar names. When I was teenager and early 20's just about all my gf's first names ended élle... Michelle's, Janelle, Shanelle, Rochelle. Weird.
You wouldn't knock someone back on the basis of that? Hmmmm..I distinctly remember you not wanting to be associated with Butkquida.
Hahaha. You know I love her ghetto *kitten*.
Still people asking about is getting old!0 -
I admit that I do have preconceived notions about names. I don't know that I would discount someone if I really hit it off with them though. Just if a name is long or hard to pronounce or very ethnic, it might give me pause because I don't know if I could jive with the sound of it, not just in bed. I was seeing a guy named Jesus for a little bit a long time ago. That name I couldn't really wrap my mouth around. (The sound is "H" instead of "J", but it's still awkward). And I have the whitest name ever so Jesus and Candy just sounds funny.
I have thought about that when thinking about naming a pretend future child. I totally think of the adult they would turn into and if their name might influence their personality. Rocco vs. Stuart...not that those are any of my choices, but the connotations are very different.0 -
I was discussing nicknames with a guy I'm interested in, and mentioned one of my MFP friends calls me Hooty McBoob. Now he will NOT stop addressing me as Hooty. Yes, I'm aware that I asked for it.
Now I can't help but wonder what he'll call me when/if we ever end up in the sack together. He may forget my real name, then "Hooty" will just ruin everything!!! :noway:0 -

Okay that made me laugh because I am picturing the guy sounding like an Owl.
Yesterday while we were tailgating one of the girls called her boyfriend Boo. Well since a couple of us heard that he was called BooBoo (in the voice of Yogi Bear) the rest of the time.0
