I started gaining in week 5 - around week 7 my weight shot up and I gained pretty irregularly through week 19 (2lbs one month, 10 the next). Since then, it seems to have stabilized (4-5lbs since August, a normal weight gain rate) and I'm 24 weeks.

I don't think I noticed a gain until at least 8 weeks, and that wasn't necessarily baby weight because I was home for my grandma's funeral, I always gain when i'm home but I gain more if it's a stressful time. I wouldn't worry to much about gaining as long as you know you are eating enough.

    Congrats!

My low on MFP was 153.8 (which is what my weight is listed at in the system until I have this baby and start over, so to speak). I had been lax on eating, so I had gained back a few. Prior to my taking a pregnancy test I was 158. Since getting a positive (at 4w), I have been at 161 pretty consistently, maybe up or down a pound from day to day but always seeming to come back to that number. My boobs are really full, but I doubt that's three pounds. Maybe water retention otherwise? My lower belly is protruding a bit, and it annoys me because it makes me look more pregnant than I am! I'm all of 6w5d, so I shouldn't be showing yet :frown:

However I am pretty happy about holding steady since that first jump in weight. I am expecting to start gaining a little bit at weeks 8 or 9, if not then week 10.

I think I only gained 1-2lbs until about week 8. Don't worry, the baby is so little, you will gain soon enough!

I started noticing weight gain around week 9 when it shot up 5.7 lbs. From week 9 through week 18 it fluctated between 4.7-5.7 until week 19 when it jumped to 7.5 lbs gained. My weight seemed to hold at 7.5 lbs until week 22 (this week) when it jumped to 12.7 lbs gained. I think those jumps are when the baby goes through a growth spurt as that's when I also notice my belly gets bigger while thankfully my thighs/butt have stayed the same.

Found out I was pregnant at 4-5 weeks.

Didn't gain anything more than 2 pounds until 12 weeks. Was keeping up my normal eating/exercise routine.

I gained 5 lbs before I even knew I was pregnant. I bloated up really quickly.

Honestly, as soon as you find out about the pregnancy, put your scale away and don't use it again unless you need to. Just focus on eating well and taking care of yourself, and let your weight do what it's going to do. There's only so much control you have over it.

    I agree with this ^

I'm 12 weeks and so far I have LOST 4 lbs. I wouldn't be too concerned about it though. I'm starting out overweight, so a loss in the first trimester isn't a bad thing for me. :)

Plus a lot of it will depend on how you feel. Not only has my appetite changed from day to day, (some days it's a struggle to eat and some days I'm starving!) but I've also noticed a huge change in the amount I can eat at a time. I think my portions have literally been cut in half because if I eat more than that I feel so sick.

I'd say just listen to your body and you will be fine! Congrats by the way!
