I don't have a HRM or other way to measure intensity and calorie burned so I am wondering if any one has worked out the calories on any of the DVDs. Would you say the calories burned would be equal to actual walking outside. In other word is walking 1 mile in 20 minutes (3mph) with the DVD the same as walking 1 mile @ 3mph outside? I have just started using the Walk Away the Pounds DVD that has a 1 mile walk and a 2 mile walk. The package is light purple and she has a green shirt on. The cover shows also 1mile pkg which is yellow and she is wearing a purple shirt and a 2 mile pkg that is pink and she is wearing a light blue shirt. I am using weights and keeping up with her demo exactly

Hi Mimi,
You can answer that question two ways...
In the original WATP days, Leslie only did 15 minute miles, so you could go to Walking,
2.0 miles, slow pace and type in .5 in the first box. That will give you the calorie burn for
a 15 minute mile. I think a 2 mile was 72 calories then, so half of 72 is 36 for a 1 mile
walk.
The second way now that Leslie is doing boosted walking with 10 and 12 minute miles
is to remember that Leslie's walks are low impact aerobics. So type that into your search
box and when it comes up, type how many minutes you worked out, press the button and
MFP will tell you how many calories you burned.

I was very curious myself on the answer to the question a few months back so I tracked regularly using my body media armband. My results were exactly what I expected....I burn way more calories doing Leslie's walks than I do walking outside or on treadmill. I figured that because .....wow.... I sweat doing Leslie DVDs, and even at a fast walk outdoors I never sweat.
So....my own personal calorie count results look like this:
30 minutes walking fast outdoors = 222 calories OR 30 minutes doing any Leslie 2 miler = 259
Now just for my own curiosity I also looked up what the count was if I tracked Leslie DVDs as "aerobic" excercise on MFP and 30 minutes = 288. I think that doing a Leslie DVD is a cross between a 4mph walk and an aerobic exercise as far as calories go...I mean hey, when your walking outdoors your not kicking, doing arm raises or knee lifts either are you?
I would, at the very least track your walks on MFP as walking 3mph (if that's how fast your DVD is) , but I would be willing to bet that your burning more calories than that.0
