Judges 5:31b (NIV)
"But may all who love you be like the sun
when it rises in its strength.”
I am really enjoying the sun and warmth this morning here in Dublin. The ice in the hummingbird feeder has melted (I better take that thing down today!), Barney, our toy fox terrier, after a rainy week, raced around the perimeter of our yard at top speed, and birds were flitting around and calling to one another as leaves began to drop with regularity. I felt refreshed and blessed! It got me thinking how the sun and strength go hand in hand. When we are exposed to the sun's rays, brightness and warmth, we gain strength emotionally, physically, mentally.
I like these verses in Judges 5, known as Deborah's song. Deborah, the only noted woman (perhaps there were others) to lead Israel as a wise and successful judge for about 40 - 40! - years. She was a strong woman, willing to take the risks necessary to be the leader of her people, serious about her calling to serve the Lord. She relied on the strength she gained from Him to enable her in all ways.
We can follow Deborah's example. Bask in the rays of the Son today and be strong!
