Suggestions on a new Mountain Bike

I had a lovely attention cube comp up until last week when I got ran over by a van. I faired ok just about but my bike was destroyed!
I was looking at 29ers, mainly because of my height (6ft4) and wonder what people had, I have a budget of about £1000. Not too bothered about full suspension, just a decent hard tail. Would be used for a bit of commuting(23 miles a day) and also to hit the single tracks and also some enduro cycling.
Any suggestions?
