Medical Care! Are you kidding me?

I have primary phsyical custody of my kids. Their dad sees them but he has absolutely NOTHING to do with their care. I need to get my son in to see a Psychologist and the Dr. won't see him without permission from the father! Are you kidding me?

Nope...I encountered the same thing.0

According to your custody paperwork, do you both have "joint custody" even though you have primary physical custody? If so, that is the reason why. I had the same issue with my DD. I also have primary residential custody, but with regards to major decisions about her health, etc., I still have to get his agreement.
I don't think this applies to medical treatment, but definitely for psychological treatment. DD's school offers a free 10-week counseling program for children of divorce - and they require consent from BOTH parents.
Good luck to you!0 -
My son has Aspberger's and he is really struggling with school and said some very horrible things yesterday regarding the fact that he would rather die than go somewhere or that I should just get rid of him or he should just go away. I really need to get him into an outside counselor. His dad says he won't agree unless he doesn't have to pay for it. I am so full of hate right now.0

No whats worse? For me and my kids I pay 1460.00 a month for insurance and the X has never helped with my kids at all. They see her a couple of times a year. I do it on my own, just venting.0

That is bad! I had an entire tirade about Insurance companies the other day. My ex finally gave permission for my son to be seen by a Psychologist, but refuses to pay. Even though he is legally obligated to. He knows I don't have the money for a lawyer right now. I would have utilities turned off before I would not pay for my kids to get medical care.0
