I'm new to this group, just wanted to introduce myself!
I'm Krissy, from the Downriver (Wyandotte) Area, about twenty minutes south of Detroit
I was so happy to see a group for Michiganders, as I truly think people in other regions don't see the beauty of our state anymore. After the whole Kwame Kilpatrick thing, the country just thinks we're all in the same, of corruption, crime and poverty. But they don't take the time to see that the media doesn't have it's entire story straight. Yes, we've been through some hard times but let's recap some nice-*kitten* facts here:
11 time Stanley Cup Champions
21 Consecutive Playoff Appearances
4 World Series Championships
11 American League Pennants
Frankenmuth
Mackinaw Bridge
5 Great Lakes
Sleeping Bear Dunes
Fox Theater
Michigan v Michigan State Rivalry
Being able to show people where you live with your hand!
There is plenty to love about our state, and I wish people would stop bashing on us! Hell yeah for the Mitten!
Where else do you get to see all four seasons in ONE day? Where you can go Up North and wake up to deer in your front yard? Come November the entire city goes red&white to support our Wings, and every spring, the "Eat em up, Tigers" guy will be back by Comerica Park. I have spent many summers visiting Mackinaw Island, and nothing is better than Frankenmuth fudge! We're used to 90 degree summers with 100% humidity and 20 degree winters with 4 feet of snow! So be proud of our state, I most certainly am
