They've already bought Marvel and there haven't been any Disney-fication of Wolverine.

But yes... my childhood is dying, too.

For the past 15 years Lucas has been meddling with and disappointing me with his work in Star Wars. This makes little difference to me. If anything, it's a roll of the dice, which gives me some cautious optimism.

This is pretty much how I feel. I doubt Disney can do worst than Jar Jar Binks.

You know, now that you mention Jar Jar, I feel better about this.

Hell even with the re-releases of IV-VI and the added footage is when Lucas started going down hill, then you add to the fact that he WON'T release the original releases w/o that added bs, which he followed up with Jar Jar, yeah I left him long ago. How much worse can Disney screw this up? Hollywood has been raping my childhood for years now.
  • This is not all bad news. Disney haven't messed with Marvel and the money they made from The Avengers seems to have convinced them not to so in the future. Look at Iron Man 3 for example. Not much to go on from the trailer I'll admit but the tone does look a lot darker.
Hopefully the future of Star Wars can be put into the hands of a younger more proven director. We all like George Lucas for his vision and his ability to come up with ideas but lets face it, he can't write dialogue and he can't direct actors. Maybe Joss Whedon or Bryan Singer could be given the keys to the kingdom. When they are not busy with Avengers and the X men of course. Or why not go totally left field with say Frank Darabont. Directors will be cuing up for a chance to make a Star Wars movie. God could you imagine a James Cameron Star Wars!

There's the rub though...it's all about the $$$. Disney knows that this is a cash cow, just like it knew the Marvel stuff would be adn is pumping out film after film (not that unlike Hammer films FWIW). Would I love to see something like the Thrawn trilogy on the big screen? Yes, yes I would. Truth be told though, I'm tired of the endless remakes and sequels, admitedly, I have sequelitis...there is so much to explore out there. Imagine a Boba Fett movie directed by Tarantino. Or Nolan rocking out the triology after the Thrawn books.

Sadly though, I don't think that will happen. Disney will play it safe, simplistic plotting, rarely taking advantage of the full breadth and scope of the Universe in the pursuit of million$. But I'm glad they got it away from Lucas, he's meddled with it far too much!

I wonder if they offered her enough money...if Carrie would lose a bunch of weight to at least do the first movie in a new trilogy with Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. Get the new series started with their future children....

This is what they SHOULD do, then carry on from there and leave the current movies alone.
