Nahum 1:7 (NIV)
The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him.

I am grateful that New England has made it through the storm known as Sandy. How did you do where you are?

I tried to be mindful of what to expect during a power blackout. What to eat so I don't go off track?
First order of business is to put in place that which you need for safety and provision for you and your family.
Then, what is healthy and easy to keep on hand when the fridge is not working?
I did struggle with not just eating the entire broccoli quiche, which I had just made, 2 of them - because I was excited or bored or off-keel due to the power outage. Being aware of your emotions and stress level during such an event is important for keeping yourself on an even keel. I had also rationalized that a pan of brownies would be good to have, but then the power went and I did not get to bake them. Good thing! I am quote sure I'd have eaten most of them.

Thankfully, in the end, our power was not out long - 7 hours. What about you?
I hope each and every one of you, and your loved ones, is safe and sound.

We just had high winds in the northeast corner of Vermont, but no power outages. On Monday I made a huge pot of homemade chicken soup and beef stew (for my husband and daughter, had flour and tomatoes in it, so not for me), so I didn't need to cook yesterday which was really nice! Extremely thankful that our power didn't go off because our freezer and chest freezer are full to the top with garden veggies. The Lord is definitely good and I thank Him for his care!
